Kim is a proud native of Indiana and thus can’t answer the “Where did you go to high school?” question with a name anyone would recognize. She graduated from the University of Indiana with a business degree in finance. That degree has led to a couple of interesting twists and turns in her life.
After graduation, she was in a management training position at the Indiana National Bank in Indianapolis when she met Randy Hove, one of the customers of the bank. Conversation went beyond checks and balances, and soon they were dating. Kim and Randy were married in 1984. Soon after that, Randy, a native of Minnesota, had an offer from Medicine Shoppe, and the couple relocated to St. Louis, where they’ve lived since then.
When Kim became a real estate agent in 1999, she applied her finance background to her new career choice. She says her business degree helped her to understand the complexities of residential real estate quickly. Her interest in interior design adds a valuable dimension to the process of selling a house. Kim educates her clients to understand that buyers look not only for a good deal but also a place they can imagine as their home. To that end, Kim emphasizes that the biggest product many people have to sell is their house – why not market it to its fullest potential?
Kim’s attention to her clients is reflected in her success as a realtor. She is among the top 100 agents in the company and is the #2 agent in the Des Peres office.
Kim and Randy’s children are Caitlin, a sophomore at UMSL, and Ryan, a senior at Parkway West. In mid-December 2006, the family enjoyed a cruise on the Carnival Valor, with departure from Miami and stops in Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. Kim says cruising the week before Christmas is a great stress reliever.
In her spare time (there’s never enough of that!), Kim enjoys staying fit at the Lodge-Des Peres and traveling. She also volunteers for numerous organizations. Since joining Rotary, she has served as program chair and is currently serving as international chair.
