Club Receives Presidential Citation

Once again, the club received the Rotary International Presidential Citation. According to RI’s website, the purpose of the Presidential Citation is to “increase Rotary club involvement in service activities, while at the same time encouraging Rotarian's personal involvement in serving others and promoting a high standard of Rotary service in the community.”

For the Rotary year July 2005-June 2006, the Des Peres club was recognized in several areas: membership, public image, club service, community service and international service. The club increased membership by six. Service highlights include cleaning up Sugar Creek, conducting a strategic planning meeting to ensure future development was on course, and donating over $240 per capita to the Rotary Foundation.

The club actively sought to spread information about Rotary. Member Bob Stalinski, owner of Minuteman Press-Des Peres, donated a portion of his revenues from December 2005 to the Avoidable Blindness project. The club submitted the story to several local newspapers, a number of which ran the article. In addition, the club ran local ads that advertised the golf tournament and highlighted the club.

Congratulations to Paul Shaver, to the officers and directors, and to all the club members for this impressive recognition!
